The Covid forecasting consortium expects a slight downward trend in hospitals and infections in the first update after Christmas and New Year holidays.
In two weeks, 795 to 1,300 infected people are expected in regular wards, with a mean of 1,016 affected, down from 1,138 Tuesday. According to the forecast released Wednesday, intensive care beds should remain “more or less constant” at around 60 occupied beds.
Regarding case numbers, trends from wastewater monitoring and officially reported positive tests also point to a slight downward trend, explained model calculators from TU Wien, MedUni Vienna and Gesundheit Österreich GmbH (GÖG). However, it was emphasized that the figures in the Epidemiological Reporting System (EMS) are subject to certain uncertainties due to the holiday effects.
